Nursery

A warm and inviting time for infants/toddlers ages 0-3 years to play! Children experience play time, snack time, and God’s word while parents worship! All Children's Ministry volunteers have background checks, and the nursery team ensures that all toys, activities, and snacks are safe for your child! We are happy to utilize the Seeker Communication Pager program so we can page you if your child is in need. Nursery is offered during Sunday Morning Worship, Sunday School and on Wednesday Nights for parents attending or teaching a class!

Little Lambs

After toddlers ages 2-3 sing praises during Sunday Worship, they are excused to join their friends in Little Lambs! Little Lambs has an atmosphere where children can learn about God through interactive playtime and a hands-on Bible Story. Children are excused for Little Lambs during the offering at the Sunday Worship Service. As with all our Children's Ministry Volunteers: all Little Lambs teachers have had a background check and our coordinators ensure that all activities, play toys and lessons are safe and age-appropriate for your precious toddlers!

Little Lambs is located @ Oakwood Elementary: Room # 101

Young Children & Worship

What is your idea of worship? Why do you worship, and Whom do you worship? Young Children & Worship (YC&W) teaches children the answer to these questions. It involves helping children worship in a special place apart from the worshiping congregation so they become able to worship meaningfully with the congregation. This is not a Sunday School environment but a worship environment!

After children ages 4-7 sing praises during Sunday Worship, they are excused to join their friends in YC&W! They prepare their hearts through greeting, offering and song; Proclaim God’s Word through an interactive Bible Story and response time, Scripture and prayer; then Go in God’s Name with song and praise and a blessing for the week ahead! Classes are split into two age groups: 4-5 year old and 6-7 year olds. When children turn 8 they graduate from Young Children & Worship with their very own Bible, bag, pen and paper to continue their journey of worship in the Sunday Service!

Sunday School

We are so excited to begin a new Sunday School ministry using the "Show Me Jesus" curriculum: unpacking the Bible from Genesis to Revelation! Classes are according to age group--each age having their very own lessons written just for them! Each week children receive take home handouts that give parents the Bible point, Scripture and memory verse that their child learned that week! The older classes (Grade 2nd-5th) also have Devo's that build on the lesson from one week and carry them through the Bible to the next week--digging them deeper into the word and closer to Christ!!

Sunday School is before our Sunday Worship Service from 9-10am (worship follows at 10:15am)

Classes can be found in the following Classrooms @ Oakwood Elementary:

Preschool (ages 3-5 years): Room #101
DK-1st grade: Room #146 (back half of the Media Center)
2nd/3rd Grade: In the Rotunda
4th/5th Grade: Room #147

Wednesday Night Ministries

Wednesday Nights at Lighthouse are where it's at! We eat together, sing together, learn together, share together and grow together! We are a family of God! We would love to have you join us every Wednesday Night from 5:30-7:30 PM at the New Options High School (located @ 6633 Lake Michigan Drive)!  Children DK-5th Grade attend classes according to age and gender with a lesson made exactly for their age group! This is our second year using Dwell Curriculum: Unpacking the Big God Story from Genesis to Revelation! Each week your child will engage in a Bible Story with a given Story Symbol to visually remind them of the story. When we put all the Story Symbols together...we get the Big God Story! Dwell teaches our children that the Bible is not just an old book; rather, the truth God wrote just for US!!
