If the National Weather Service issues a Tornado Warning and the warning remains in effect within one hour prior to when worship services are scheduled to begin, services for that morning or evening will automatically be cancelled. If the advisory is cancelled before the one hour deadline, services will continue as scheduled. If the National Weather Service issues a Tornado Watch or a Severe Thunderstorm Warning worship services will not be automatically cancelled but will be conducted as the Executive Committee deems appropriate, leaving attendance at such services up to the discretion of individual members/families (ie. cancellations are possible but not mandatory).
If the National Weather Service issues a Winter Storm Warning, the Executive Committee will hold responsibility for determining the appropriateness of conducting or cancelling any or all worship services. This judgment shall be made in cooperation by members of both the pastoral staff and officers of the Consistory, based on direct observation of road conditions two hours prior to service start times, with input from other appropriate resources (eg. contracted snow plowing service). The cancellation of the first Sunday morning service will not necessitate the cancellation of the second service. In fact, unless weather and road conditions absolutely prevent it, every attempt will be made to conduct at least the second service every Sunday morning.
All cancellations will be broadcast on local channels WOOD TV-8 and WZZM TV-13, as well as WCSG radio, 91.3 FM, and utilizing the homepage of the church's website.
Weekday ministries will be cancelled at the judgment of the program leaders for those ministries based on current weather and road conditions 2-3 hours prior to program start times. Notification of such cancellations will be made according to the manner deemed most effective for their program.
