Gerri Lemmen accepted the call to bring love to the hurting in Michigan, serving as a nurse at Spectrum Health. She also followed the call to bring love to another part of the world by going to Romania--using four weeks of her vacation time and going at her own expense each year.
This has been a powerful witness to the Romanian people. They ask “Why would you not go on a cruise for your vacation?” Gerri’s response is “because you are my Christian brothers and sisters and God wants me to spend time with you.” Her first trip was in 1991—31 trips later....the gospel has been shared through vacation bible school, health clinics, friendships over coffee, church planting, eye glass distribution, pastors retreats and many other ways.
What an encouragement she has been to so many pastors and their families, lay leaders and the friends that God has put into her path. Gerri’s favorite scripture is, "I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” (Phil. 4:13)
The best part of Gerri’s ministry is:
- Bringing young people to Romania to learn from them by doing street evangelism through playing their music after worship every Sunday. The Romanian young people are very mature in their walk with the Lord.
- Encouraging pastors and praying with their families.
- Bringing resources to pastors.
Melissa loves to build relationships with the people of Romania and she has seen her faith and trust grow. She also has seen her friends grow, both physically and spiritually, as well as develop a passion for God. Melissa would not have been able to do this without the wonderful prayer and financial support of her Lighthouse church family.
