How Shall We Then Live?

Two days until the election!! And it is being said by people from both parties that this is the most important election in the history of our nation. Of course, that is said every four years, to one degree or another. Is THIS election different? Both “sides” believe it is, but for radically different reasons. Some would say that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. What do YOU think?? The real question is, “What does GOD think?” … or even more to the point, “What does God SAY???” While everyone wants to share their opinion, we who are followers of Jesus Christ are at all times to be ambassadors of Christ, speaking God’s revealed truth to those who have been deceived. Our calling does not end where politics begin. There is right and there is wrong, and the only standard by which God’s people determine which “side” to take is the unchangeable Word of God. People in our nation and around the world want to find “common ground,” where everyone can just get along and be nice to each other. Most people want peace and safety, prosperity and joy. But some find those things in serving themselves, while others find those things in serving God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. These two differing opinions cannot be reconciled … ever!! They are polar opposites, and searching for a compromise is a fool’s errand. In the final analysis, it all comes down to THIS: The One true and only God, who created this world and everything in it, will have the last word. He is at work in the world today, offering love, life, hope, peace and joy to those who come to Him through faith in Jesus, yet warning of judgment to those who do not know Him and who reject His offer of forgiveness and life. Do you know Him? If you do, you will not only know how to vote, but you will have peace with the outcome because HE is in control!
