Going … Make Disciples!

It probably seems strange to most people to talk so much about a “kingdom,” because we live in a world where most nations, other than Great Britain (the “United Kingdom”) do not have a king … and even there the king is more of a title than anything else because he has no real authority. Yet the entire Bible is about the establishment of GOD’s kingdom, where ALL the authority belongs to God, and where Jesus Christ, God’s own Son, is God’s anointed King … as Scripture says, “The King of kings, and the Lord of lords.” You really cannot and will not understand the Bible until you grasp the truth about God’s kingdom. It is now a spiritual kingdom, as Jesus reigns at the Father’s right hand; but it will soon become a physical kingdom as Jesus returns to reign upon the earth, and then establishes the eternal kingdom of God in the NEW heavens and the NEW earth!! This is the central theme of the Bible from beginning to end, and it is the subject of what have been called “the kingdom parables” of Jesus, recorded in Matthew 13 and elsewhere in the Gospels.  Jesus spoke about the kingdom in parables, knowing most people would not understand, but then explained them to His disciples and to all who would believe after them. In these parables Jesus explains GOD’s work in establishing His kingdom, and MAN’s work in “sowing the seed” that would produce a “spiritual harvest!” Understanding both God’s work and our work is the purpose of the parables Jesus told, and then being prepared and ready to do YOUR part is the goal for all who are truly disciples of Jesus.  Throughout your life God gives you opportunities to “sow seed” into His kingdom that will bear fruit for His glory. May you be about our Father’s business as you live to serve our King!!
