“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

18 – “The Definition of ‘GREATNESS’ in God’s Kingdom!”

Going … Make Disciples!

Throughout the course of human history “greatness” has been defined in various ways. For some greatness is measured by popularity, while others measure it by one’s accomplishments, and still others by character or some unusual personal “success.” All of these standards of measurement are subject to the perspective of the one who is doing the “judging.” What is “greatness” to one person might not be to another person.  Human judgment is always subject to a variety of factors, which is why people rarely seem to agree! But in GOD’s kingdom things are different!! In God’s kingdom God alone has the right to determine what is good or bad, what is right or wrong, and what has value and what does not. In GOD’s kingdom there is only one Master, only one King, and everyone else is a servant of the King! No one has the right to “judge” the Master or to determine their own standard of judging or determining the definition of “greatness.” While the minds of His first disciples were still on the things of this world, even as Jesus was about to go to the cross to pay the debt for sin, they needed to learn perhaps the most important lesson of their lives: Whoever would be great in GOD’s kingdom must be willing to live this life as a servant, following Jesus’ own example of servanthood. “The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28). How different our homes would be if everyone would follow Jesus’ example. How different the church would be if everyone would follow Jesus’ example. How different the WORLD would be if everyone would follow Jesus’ example. EVERYONE can’t … everyone won’t … but true disciples of Jesus will make it their goal to live as examples to others of what it means to be a disciple, a follower of Jesus, by living lives of humble service … wherever they are, whatever they are doing. To this we are called, and for this we were saved!
