Jesus’ last words to his disciples (and, therefore, to us) before he ascended into Heaven were to go out and make disciples for Him. This is the driving force of the Christian life. Other passages tell us how to do this through preaching, teaching, charity, love, and through our own actions and lives.
The LCC HS Youth Min makes this a huge part of our ministry. In addition to trying to live this out all year long, each summer the HS Youth head out to a Mission Trip to help serve the Lord by serving other people, helping them, and showing them the love of Christ.
For several years now, the HS Youth did this through REACH Workcamps on a week long, out of state trip where they helped fix the homes of those who couldn’t afford or were unable to do it themselves. Over the course of the week they had challenges, grew in their love for others, grew in their relationships with Christ, and had an amazing time doing it!
Every third year we do something different from REACH! We’ve gone to Kentucky to the Creation Museum as well as ministered in downtown Grand Rapids through BSHOP’s Immersion Trip.
