After numerous trips to Guatemala for 2 adoptions and also for a mission trip, Michelle Janssen and Kathy Demers, members of Lighthouse, felt they were being called by God to begin a ministry focused on orphan care and evangelism in Guatemala.
Since 2008, they have led 10+ mission trips to Guatemala, with teams varying in size from 6-19 people. Their goal is to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ! They do this in a number of ways, including:
• Preaching a message of hope and salvation in Christ.
• Offering hope to those who do not yet know the LORD.
• Assisting in feeding programs.
• Sharing Christ with children in orphanages.
• Spending time at Dorie’s Promise, an orphanage where we have spent over 10 years building relationships with both the children and the staff.
If you feel the LORD nudging you to join them on a trip to Guatemala, please listen to what the LORD is telling you! You will come back changed. To whom much is given, much is required! Don’t miss out on what God is doing in Guatemala! If you do not feel called to go, pray about whether the LORD is leading you to support these trips financially.
Finally, and most importantly, please pray for this ministry!
♦ Pray for safety for the teams.
♦ Pray that as they lead these teams, they will know how to most effectively be the hands and feet of Jesus as they lift His name high!
♦ Pray for Pastor Willy, who leads a small congregation of believers in one of Central America’s largest urban slums.
♦ Pray for the staff and children at Dorie’s Promise, an amazing orphanage where children are loved and taught of their heavenly Father who has not abandoned them.
