“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

ROMANS: “The Gospel of Jesus Christ: Hear It! Believe It! Live It!”

The Gospel of God’s grace in Jesus Christ produces faith that leads to obedience and results in glory to God!

There is no more powerful message than the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Without faith it is impossible to please God, and without obedience it is impossible to glorify God. The early Church included Jews who had received Jesus as the Messiah, the promised Savior, and Gentiles who had heard the Gospel and put their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. Bringing these two groups together for the glory of God was the goal of Paul’s letter to the Romans and to the growing number of people coming to faith in Jesus wherever the Gospel was being proclaimed.

In his letter to the Romans, Paul goes to great lengths to explain the Gospel and its purpose in God’s plan. Beginning in Chapter 1, verse 5, and concluding in Chapter 16, verse 26, Paul declares that God’s purpose is to bring glory to Himself by calling people from all nations to faith in Jesus Christ and so to empower them to obedience to His revealed will as the Holy Spirit works within them through the Word. Righteousness is revealed as both a  gift of God and the work of God in the life of the true believer.

This knowledge and understanding of the Gospel is vital for the Church today! Without it, many have wandered from the truth and have been led astray to the extremes of trying to earn their righteousness by their own words or to indulge the sinful nature, all the while claiming God’s grace.

Surely, it was parts of the book of Romans that prompted Peter to write, “Count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures” (II Peter 3:14-16).

A thorough study of this portion of God’s Word, in conjunction with the rest of Scripture, will inevitably produce a deeper understanding of God’s grace in Jesus Christ and a richer, deeper, God-honoring life of obedience to the God who saved you for His glory. In short, embracing the truths revealed in Romans will give you spiritual depth, maturity and resolve that is present only in those who have satisfied their spiritual hunger often at the banquet that God has prepared in this letter, prepared by the Holy Spirit through the instrument of an apostle named, Paul.
