“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

19 – “Dead and Alive”

Stand Alone Sermon

There is a paradoxical nature in the Christian life. We are in this world but not of it. We hate the sin around us but are to love those who do the sins. We are called both sinners and saints. Most interestingly, we are told we are both dead and alive. The spiritual truths we find in the Bible about what God has done for His people, the Church, are incredible. Often times they are so incredible that we fail to really consider what they mean in our daily lives. We live lives of constant distractions from the world, seeking to live for our Lord and honor Him with our lives, all while having to resist the constant pull to go back to the old lives we’ve left behind. In today’s sermon, we will learn that it is not a metaphor that we Christians are both dead and alive, but a vital truth that, by God’s working in us, will empower us to grow further and further from our dead selves, and more and more into the people God would have us be: reflections of the image of Christ!
