God’s grace in Jesus Christ, His love for those who are His children and His gift of salvation to those who believe are not recognized as amazingly wonderful by most and are virtually overlooked as not being all that significant, even by many in the church, BECAUSE they are not seen in the light of God’s judgment. Believing that God, if He exists at all, must treat everyone the same, the huge majority of mankind cannot imagine a God who would actually bring judgment on anyone. Therefore, they offer their own ideas and opinions of God, of religion, of the future, for the consumption of those who have little if any appetite for spiritual things in the first place! If people really believed that the judgment of the holy God who has revealed Himself in His Word through the prophets was going to fall upon them, surely they would be searching for a way to escape … but they aren’t. Yet there IS good news for those who know God and who by His grace receive His gift of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus. We who believe understand that God’s judgment is already falling upon mankind, that we ourselves deserve judgment and that there is a much worse judgment to come. That is why we rejoice in Jesus Christ and look forward to the glorious future He promises to the remnant, those whom He has chosen for Himself. In Christ our hope is sure and our future is secure.
