THIS Is Eternal Life!
“Peace on earth!” The words describe a utopian dream that can scarcely be imagined and that is not now, nor ever has been, a reality since the fall of Adam and Eve into sin. A closer examination of the words of the angels on the night Jesus was born, however, reveals a truth that rightly understood describes a “peace” that DOES exist … for some. God was speaking then and is speaking now, to those “with whom He is pleased,” (Luke 2:14, ESV), to those“on whom His favor (grace) rests” (NIV). These, and these only, can and do experience the PEACE of heart and mind that is found through faith in Jesus Christ. It is this “inner peace” that people long for, but which many have given up on ever finding. Numerous and various “storms” batter our souls, and the strongest among us must confess our weakness and our inadequacies in dealing with life’s trials and the suffering that often accompanies them. Where can anyone find true inner peace that steadies the mind and calms the heart? It is found in the salvation that God has provided and promised to all who believe in Jesus Christ! Are you one of these? Have you found God to be “the God of peace,” who Himself is at work to accomplish His purpose in you and through you and for you? “He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it!” (I Thessalonians 5:23-24).
