“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

5 – Pursuing Mission

“The Six Marks of a Disciple”

Jesus was sent into this world on a mission. Few who believe the Bible to be the Word of God would argue with that statement. But what was the mission He was sent to accomplish? Jesus doesn’t leave us in doubt! He says, “I will build My Church!” Jesus further describes His mission in John 17:1-4, as He prays to the Father, “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.” Jesus had revealed the Father “to all whom you have given Him” and had come to give them eternal life. Jesus came to SAVE a remnant of the human race through His death on the cross, and He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, pouring out His Spirit to build His Church, gathering some from every people, tribe, nation and tongue to be His disciples. That mission continues through those who are His disciples today. As followers of Jesus, we have a calling to “follow” Him in His mission to build His Church! Christians have different gifts, different vocations and different roles to play as disciples of Jesus, but we all have the same calling: being part of and building up the Body of Christ, the Church. The greatest need of every single person in our world today has not changed since the Garden of Eden and will not change until Jesus comes! People need to know God, to be reconciled to Him through faith in Jesus Christ and to live for Him until Jesus returns. Everything else … EVERYTHING else should revolve around THIS mission. We who believe are a “CALLED” people. We need to be about our Father’s business!!
