“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

7 – Respecting God’s Servants!

We’re In This Together!

An old hymn has a line that reads, “Prone to wander, Lord I feel it; prone to leave the God I love.” Those words express the reality of the human condition as long as we live in this world. As the Spirit of God works in us through God’s Word, we “grow” and those times of “wandering” growing fewer and shorter. Still, God calls us “sheep” for a reason, and sheep need a shepherd! From the beginning, God has chosen leaders for His people, leaders who themselves needed leading from God before they could ever hope to lead His people. No one who is called to lead God’s people, Christ’s sheep, is ever “self-appointed.” God calls some to lead, equipping them through His Spirit to “shepherd the flock” in the name of Christ and for the glory of God. As Paul wrote to the believers about some of those whom God had called as leaders in the church, he makes it clear that those who lead and those being led have a joint calling and a relationship with one another that bears fruit for God’s kingdom. As fellow servants of Christ, mutual compassion for one another and respect and honor for those who are leading produces effective ministry and joy for all who share in it. Pray that the Spirit of God speaks to us today about the importance of respecting God’s servants, especially those who are giving their lives to build up the Body!
