Stand Alone Sermon

People celebrate a lot of different things, and it would be easy today to celebrate the new Worship Center and additional space God has graciously given to us, indeed, the property and the whole building.   Who could have imagined that we would be here six years after leaving our former location?  But while we give thanks to God for His blessings, we gather today to celebrate GOD, the only true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Father, Son and Holy Spirit!!  He is the God of salvation and through the gift of His Son Jesus Christ and the work of His Spirit within us we are adopted into His family and we now know God as “Abba, Father!”  By God’s amazing grace we who believe today know God better than Joshua did when he called the people to celebrate God’s faithfulness.  We know God better than David did when He wrote, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised!” (Psalm 145:3).  Our calling as disciples of Jesus is to TESTIFY before the world that the LORD, the great “I AM,” who revealed Himself to Moses and then sent His Son and Spirit to reveal Himself to US … to testify that HE ALONE IS GOD!!!  This is our heritage; this is who we are!  Our identity as individual believers and as a part of the Body of Christ is found in our relationship with the one true God, our Father in heaven.  Today is about HIM!! And so we celebrate GOD today, and we declare, “How GREAT is our God!!!”
