“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

19 – The Authority of THE King!

The Kingdom of God!

Those who have grown up in the church may get so used to hearing certain passages from God’s Word that we fail to realize what God is saying to us. Such may be the case with what we call the “Great Commission.” Jesus tells us to “make disciples” and to be His witnesses. Perhaps we need to hear Jesus’ words as though we are hearing them for the first time!! It is necessary and important for every person who confesses Jesus Christ as Savior to think about who Jesus IS and to confess that He is Lord! He is the eternal Son of God, sent into the world to take upon Himself a human nature, not only to go to the cross, but also to be exalted to the right hand of the Father and to reign over all things as King!! Too many seem to want a Savior without confessing Jesus is Lord, but the two go together. You can’t have one without the other! Making disciples requires the work of the Holy Spirit, as God makes us “new creations” who willingly and gladly submit ourselves to Jesus and who desire to live in obedience to His commands. Where there is no obedience, there is no submission to Christ; and where there is no submission to Christ, there is no confession that He is Lord! We need to hear Jesus’ words again, as if for the first time: “ALL authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. GO, therefore …”
