The Kingdom of God!
Living in a foreign country requires a lot of adjustments. Moving from one place to another can lead to a feeling of uneasiness and anxiety. When you are “home” everything is familiar and there is a sense of security and comfort. Jesus knew this world was not HIS home. He came from the glory of heaven to earth with a mission to declare His reign and to reveal the kingdom of God to those who would be given ears to hear, eyes to see, minds to understand and hearts to respond in obedience. When asked by Pilate, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus declared, “My kingdom is not of this world!” What did that mean for Him and what does that mean for us, for all who are disciples of Jesus living in this world today? It means that we, like Jesus, our Savior and Lord, do not find the meaning of our lives in the things of this world! It means that we, like Jesus, will not find our deepest sense of security or comfort from the people or things around us. We are here on a mission, and when that mission is completed our Father in heaven will call us HOME!! We are “strangers and exiles” here. Our calling is to live IN this world, yet not to be OF this world. All who know and love Jesus, who believe He is the Christ, are “ambassadors for Christ.” As we live in this world “we exist to proclaim the reign of Jesus Christ over all things; glorifying and enjoying God, NOW and FOREVER!!” Living as disciples of Jesus demands that you have this view of life and that you live accordingly.
