The Kingdom of God!

Announcements of coming events must be accurate if people are to prepare! God spoke of a coming King through the words of the prophets so that when He came those who believed His promise would recognize the King. Jesus’ birth, life, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension took place in fulfillment of what the prophets had said of the coming King. Still, there was more in what they foretold … things that were not fulfilled in His first coming. Zechariah and other prophets spoke of a future reign on the earth when the promised King would rule over all the nations. And as the prophets gave signs of His first coming, so they also gave signs of a second coming that is yet future. As the disciples gazed into the sky as Jesus ascended into heaven, the angels said to them, “This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11). Jesus taught the disciples, “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne” (Matthew 25:31). This is the “blessed hope” that the Apostle Paul speaks about in Titus 2:13, “the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ!” Are you living in anticipation of His coming? Does knowing these things affect the way you live every day? All who experience God’s salvation through faith in Jesus Christ will find joy in serving Him daily as we await His return!
