“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

29 – The Worthlessness of Life Lived Without God!

THIS is Eternal Life!
Our society, and the media at large, places a heavy emphasis on finding personal meaning and fulfillment in the many different secular pursuits available to us in this world. While these things can be good things to pursue in our lives, they only have meaning in them as a means toward glorifying God, rather than as an end to pleasing ourselves. This is a lesson that Solomon learned late in life, as he had pursued these things to the detriment of his relationship with God. In reading the book of Ecclesiastes, we can learn this lesson vicariously through Solomon, rather than to have to learn it at the expense of our own time, resources, and ultimately our relationship with God. Solomon learned that only in fearing (revering, worshiping, and loving) God can the things we do in life have any meaning, and for Christians today this means elevating Christ to the center of our lives, focusing on His gracious gospel, and living a life of glorifying Him! Don’t be like Solomon, having to regret much of your life, but turn and live for God today, in every hobby, every relationship, and every goal you pursue in this life.
