Every human being is guilty of giving in to temptation … of doing something we know is either ethically or morally wrong, or making a choice that is selfish or detrimental to others, and possibly even to ourselves. If you are a Christian and you believe what the Bible says, you know that simply being tempted is not sin, but giving in to temptation leads to sin, to some action that is contrary to God’s perfect righteousness as He has revealed it in His Law. As we look today at Jesus being tempted by Satan in the wilderness, you will discover how Jesus resisted every temptation that came His way, and how by His wisdom and strength YOU can resist temptation and find victory in Jesus!! Because God is sovereign, He works all things together for good for those who love Him, and who are called according to HIS purpose (Romans 8:28). Through Jesus’ temptations God exposes the battle between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light! Satan is the enemy of Christ and His people, and He uses lies and deception to tempt the unsuspecting. You must be prepared to do battle, to resist temptation, to stand firm against all the schemes of the evil one. Even believers can be unwitting instruments of Satan if we are not aware of how he works. One thing defeats Satan’s lies … … … TRUTH!!! You must know what God says so you will not be deceived, and you must seek God’s guidance and direction at every point in your life where you may be tempted to focus on SELF rather than on Christ and His kingdom. Jesus Christ is Lord!! Rely on His strength, follow His example, and He will give you the wisdom and strength you need to resist every temptation and to find victory in Jesus!!
