Throughout history there have been events that “changed the world,” but nothing changed the course of human history more than the coming of Jesus Christ, and His life, death, resurrection and ascension. Since the pouring out of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost, following Jesus’ ascension into heaven, we have been living in what the Bible calls “the day of salvation” (II Corinthians 6:2). The “day of salvation” began with the Gospel being proclaimed to “all nations,” fulfilling God’s promise to Abraham that in His “Seed” all nations would be blessed (Genesis 12:3). Most people in the church are familiar with the word, “gospel,” but many do not understand why the Gospel of Jesus Christ is such good news! Yes, our sins are forgiven when we believe that Jesus paid our debt through His suffering on the cross. But there’s more!! Only perfect righteousness can stand before the judgment seat of God and escape His wrath. This is where the message of the Gospel differs from every other message and every other religion. In the Gospel of Jesus Christ a “righteousness” is revealed that is received by faith in Jesus. GOD does what we cannot do! He declares all who believe “righteous” in His sight! This is the very definition of being saved by grace through faith!! It is the very heart of the Gospel message that sets us free to love, worship and serve our Father in heaven.
