We live in a modern day “Babylon”, where the people around us want to worship anything but the true living God, and want to do anything but follow Him and His ways. It’s easy to grow frustrated with this, seeking to remove ourselves from this world, desiring a way out, but that is not the plan that God has shown us. We are to live “in the world but not of the world”, and in doing so, God has placed us here to be witnesses to the world. In each and every area of our lives, our attitudes, words, and actions are to witness to who God is and who He has called us to be as His people. Believers are not to try to seek to escape the world, but rather are to seek to live for God in the midst of all the ungodliness around us. We do so both to influence the world for God and to glorify God despite how the world responds.
