THIS Is Eternal Life!

Reading God’s Word as one of God’s people is different than reading the Bible as one who doesn’t know God or love God … or have any desire to serve God. Those who KNOW God, those to whom God has revealed Himself by His Spirit, hear God’s commands and desire to keep them, to “choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19). It is our heartfelt desire to love the Lord our God with all our heart and soul and strength! We recognize the enemies around us: Satan, the world and our own sinful nature. We know the battle is real and that choosing to live as the people of God in this world will not be easy … in fact, that by our own strength it is impossible! BUT, God commands those who are His people to “be strong and courageous!” God doesn’t suggest that we be strong and courageous by trying harder or by simply setting our minds on some vague goal or task. God commands us to be strong and courageous, to go into the battle of life with the desire to serve Him, to honor Him, to build His kingdom, BECAUSE we are not alone … because HE is with us and because HIS power that is at work within us and for us is greater than the power of any enemy!! We are soldiers in Christ’s army, going into battle against the forces of evil who seek to defeat us! We must not surrender, give up or ignore God’s command. Who is on the Lord’s side?? WE serve the risen and exalted King, Jesus Christ!! Onward into battle … for HIS Name and for HIS glory!!
