“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

9 – “Rebuke / Correction vs. Stubbornness … Responding to the Lord’s Correction!”

“Wisdom to Live By!”

No one enjoys being rebuked or corrected. It means you have done or are doing something wrong, or at least someone believes you are doing something wrong. There are times when people may rebuke or correct someone, only to discover they were the ones who were mistaken, but GOD’s rebuke and correction are always necessary and always accurate. God rebukes those who need to be rebuked, and God corrects those who need correction. That means that every one of us, indeed, every human being, at times needs rebuke and correction. Students of God’s Word know that the Spirit of God often uses His Word to make us aware of our sin and of our need to repent, to turn from sin to righteousness. God’s purpose for His children is always for our good, to conform us to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ! Our Father in heaven also uses other people to bring His rebuke and correction at times. You may be sent by God to rebuke or correct a brother or sister in Christ … or they may be sent to you. Because the old nature is stubborn, there is a part of you that resists any rebuke or correction, no matter where it may come from, but Solomon makes it clear in his proverbs that those who are wise will listen to God’s rebuke or correction, understanding that it is for our good. Those who do not listen are foolish because they keep repeating the same sins that bring misery to them and others over and over again. Responding to God’s correction, however it comes, leads to spiritual growth and maturity. Learning to accept rebuke and correction as a blessing reveals a wisdom produced by His Spirit!!
