“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

10 – “Jesus the Healer … Signs of the Kingdom!”

Going … Make Disciples!

Most people who read through the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ ministry quickly see that He did many amazing, miraculous things. He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, calmed the storm, walked on water, and even raised the dead. Certainly, all of these things added to the “mystery” of who Jesus was and where His power came from! Physical illness affects every human being, to one degree or another, and Jesus apparently had the power to heal every person of every disease … but He didn’t. At times Jesus would heal many people who came to Him in the crowds. At other times He would heal an individual. But always there was something more that Jesus came to do. As He spoke of His kingdom, He pointed His disciples to a deeper need that every person has: the need for spiritual healing … for reconciliation with God that comes through repentance and forgiveness from God Himself. All people are born spiritually “sick,” spiritually blind, in bondage to a sinful nature that exists in rebellion against God, unwilling and unable to see or to enter God’s eternal kingdom! Jesus came to “fix” our worst problem by going to the cross, rising from the dead and sending His Spirit to do “spiritual surgery” in those whom He chose to be His. Sadly, many today continue to focus on physical healing, and so miss the greatest “sign” that the kingdom of heaven is near! Spiritual healing is evident in the lives of those who are true disciples of Jesus. These rejoice in His gift of forgiveness and life, and then live to proclaim the life-giving message of salvation to those who are still spiritually dead, knowing that the Gospel of Jesus Christ IS the power of God unto salvation for those who believe!!
