A thousand years is a long time! Why would God have Jesus reign on the earth for 1,000 years after He has brought judgment on mankind during the “Day of the Lord”? While many believe the idea of Jesus reigning for a thousand years on the earth is merely symbolic, there are many Scriptures that speak of the reality and importance of this period of time. The prophets speak of a time when the Messiah, the Anointed One, will rule over the nations “with a rod of iron.” God’s promises to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob must also be fulfilled. The reign of Christ on the earth will happen because God says it will, for His glory! All the nations and peoples of the earth who are left following the time of God’s wrath, following the battle of Armageddon, will see and know that there is one, true God, and that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh – God’s anointed King! Those who have been raptured (the Church, made up of Jews and Gentiles) and who have celebrated the wedding feast in heaven, will come to earth with Jesus to share in His reign. All of Israel (the physical descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who are on the earth at the time of Jesus’ return) will be saved, will believe in Jesus through the work of His Spirit, and will acknowledge Him as Lord, joining with believers from all the ages to worship the King, the Lord Jesus Christ, to the glory of God the Father! “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!!”
