The Greatest of These Is Love
Love without action is just a word looking for a definition. God is a God of relationships and the two great commandments are love for God and love for our neighbor. SELF gets in the way of true love at every possible turn unless and until God brings new life through the work of His Spirit. Only then can anyone deny self, take up the cross of servanthood daily, and follow Jesus! God leaves believers in this world to be ambassadors of His kingdom, to show the world what real selfless, Spirit-filled love looks like. Our calling as followers of Jesus revolves around “US” … the fellowship, the community, the oneness we share as the Body of Christ. The only possible place to start is drawing near to God through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus shed His blood to give us access to the Father and He assures us of our relationship with Him. The result of our assurance of being children of God through faith in Jesus Christ is obedience to God’s call to live together, to maintain the oneness of the Body, to encourage one another, to endure together, to pursue the marks of true disciples of Jesus. Perseverance requires drawing near to God and drawing near to our brothers and sisters in Christ. THIS is the LOVE to which God calls US, His chosen people. May our Father give us daily the desire to endure, to persevere, to continue! Blessed be His Name!!
