“Return to Me and I will return to you,” God promises His people. Revival is only for the people of God … for those who know Him and who have the need to rekindle the fire of passion for God and the things of God. Revival begins in the presence of God, and God’s people enter His presence in PRAYER! We know that God calls us to pray and we may even attempt to “schedule” time to pray, yet it seems that praying often becomes routine or mechanical, without passion, with little emotion and even, at times, is offered hurriedly or grudgingly. What do you do when you know you should pray and you want to pray, but your heart isn’t in it? PRAY!! True spiritual revival is not OUR work, it is the work of the Spirit of God, and He uses God’s Word to call us to obedience. It is obedience that leads to revival and God calls His people to pray! The chief purpose of prayer is communion with God. Prayer doesn’t change GOD – it changes US!! When you understand that prayer is an act of obedience, that it is through prayer that you enter the very presence of God, and that it is by praying that you are empowered to serve God, prayer becomes like breathing – such a natural, necessary part of life that you realize you can’t live without doing it! Without constant, earnest, persistent prayer, there will be no revival; but as you begin to pray and continue praying, the Holy Spirit produces revival that can last a lifetime!!
