Are you happy? For most people, the answer depends on the day, or perhaps the week. Happiness is defined by most as a state of mind produced by the circumstances of your life. When life seems to be “going your way,” you are happy; when it isn’t, you are sad, angry, overwhelmed, disappointed, frustrated, discouraged and more! But is this the way God calls His people to live? NO!! Because we live in a world where sin and rebellion against God affect every part of our lives it is impossible to go through a week, or even a day, without some event or trial or person “putting a dent” in or taking away our happiness. BUT GOD offers something to His children that enables us to have JOY in every circumstance and therefore to have a measure of happiness as we live in this world, even as we look forward to the fulfillment of all His promises in Christ. What is it that God offers His children that leads to a true and lasting joy throughout our time on the earth? His “steadfast love!” Every human being has the desire and the need to be loved and those who know God’s love in Jesus Christ have a reason to rejoice in the Lord, to be happy in Jesus, every single day!! This is part of the LIFE that Jesus gives to believers as the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to see God’s faithfulness, mercy, grace and compassion.
