THIS is Eternal Life!
To be “blessed” is to have received something of value. Many people use the word to describe a state of happiness or contentment that they feel at a particular moment of time. People feel “blessed” if they have good health, a good job, a happy family, faithful friends, enough money to pay the bills and enough left over to buy at least some of what they want in this world and to be able to “enjoy life.” People who don’t know God (and even some who do!) often substitute the word “lucky” for the word “blessed.” So what does it really mean to BE “blessed”?? When the Psalmist uses the word “blessed” he is talking about the relationship God has established with those whom He has given new life. He writes, “Blessed are those who dwell in Your house” … “Blessed are those whose strength is in You,” and “O LORD of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in You!” (Psalm 84:4-5,12). To be “blessed” is to have been consecrated, set apart by God for His glory. It is only those who know God, who have received the gift of LIFE from Him, who desire to dwell in His presence and who eagerly anticipate living with Him forever who are truly “BLESSED!!” If you are one of these, rejoice in the LORD and praise His name! If you do not yet know Him, perhaps today He is calling you to Himself through the Savior He has sent, His Son Jesus Christ!! Through faith in Jesus, you can know that you ARE blessed!!
