“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

3 – “Noah and the Flood: ‘Favor’ or Judgment”

‘From Eden … to the Cross!’

“Judgment” is a topic few people enjoy talking about, and even fewer imagine that the “God” they have been told is a God of love would execute His judgment on the majority of the human race. BUT, God has already done that once!! In the midst of the growing lawlessness of our time and the push toward criminal justice reform that seemingly would allow people to commit crimes with little or no consequence, much of the church today avoids talking about God’s coming judgment, choosing instead to offer a “gospel” that requires no repentance and leaves people imagining they know God, when Jesus is little more to them than a “good luck charm” or a “get-out-of-jail-free card.” In the biblical account of the global flood in the days of Noah you discover the truth about mankind’s sin and God’s judgment, as well as His sovereign grace in choosing a remnant to be saved. The contrast between God’s dealings with those who believe in Him and those who don’t could not be clearer. God’s judgment is not an idle threat, it is a deserved reality! But for grace, undeserved favor, we would all perish in our sin. God reveals His plan of salvation from Eden to the cross, calling people to come to Him for forgiveness and life, then moving some by the power of His Spirit to respond. If you are one of these, praise God for His grace and live with thankfulness and joy in Christ, even as God uses you to speak His truth to others, warning of the judgment to come and calling them to repent and believe. God may yet be gracious to them … but time is running out!!
