Nobody likes to be told, “You don’t know what you’re talking about!” But when it comes to the most important event ever to take place in the history of mankind on planet earth: the return of Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, to reign over all the nations of the earth and to usher in the kingdom of God … people in the world and many in the visible church simply do not know what they are talking about! Why? Because they reject or misunderstand the testimony of God’s Word. The Bible is the only source of truth regarding these things. So why don’t all those who claim to believe the Bible agree? As we continue our study of “end times” we need to acknowledge that we don’t yet understand all that God has revealed. We must pray for wisdom as we study and rid ourselves of ideas and theories based on the latest book we have read. Much of the confusion surrounding the timing of Jesus’ return and the Rapture of the Church arises from a failure to properly define and distinguish the terms: “tribulation,” “God’s wrath,” “the day of the Lord,” and “the Great Tribulation.” It comes down to this question: Are “the Great Tribulation” and “the Day of the Lord” the same thing? The answer to this question affects not only what the next events on God’s prophetic timeline will be, but also what the Church must be prepared to endure prior to the Rapture and Christ’s return.
