How many relationships do you know that have been affected in a negative way, strained, or even broken apart by dishonesty?? To be “honest” is to be truthful, open, transparent, and honesty arises from love and respect for the other person or people with whom you are in relationship. The opposite of honesty is lies and deceit, and these arise from sinful motives centered around “self.” Without honesty there is no intimacy, no trust and therefore, no true biblical fellowship or oneness. That’s why “honesty is its own reward!” Honesty removes Satan’s ammunition. He loves to use “half-truths,” lies, gossip and slander to destroy relationships and to harm the witness of God’s people. It is impossible to draw near to God, or to other people, without honesty. God always speaks truth and He calls His people to do the same. Jesus told His disciples, “The truth will set you free!” Revival – a renewed passion for God and the things of God – can and will happen only when you come to God, confessing that which is not of Him, and then seeking Him, His kingdom and His righteousness, for the purpose of glorifying Him. Honesty brings freedom, joy, purpose and peace into your life as you live in relationship with God and enables you to establish deeper and lasting relationships with others in God’s family. Yes, honesty IS its own reward!!
