THIS Is Eternal Life!
You can’t live without water. The human body is made up of 60% water, with the vital organs being 70-80% water. Most of us can’t imagine being thirsty. We have an abundance of choices to choose from and we have a plentiful supply of water. Yet, there is a spiritual thirst that is not so easily satisfied! David wrote, “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1). Within the soul of every man, woman, boy and girl is a thirst that can only be satisfied by God Himself! Most people think they simply want to be “happy,” but the desire of the heart is so much deeper. Those who are given wisdom by the Spirit of God know that what we truly long for is freedom from our bondage to sin and death. What we really long for is LIFE … ETERNAL LIFE!! And by God’s grace, we know that this life comes to us only through God’s work IN us. Jesus spoke of “living water” and then told His disciples and a few others about the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself, God in the flesh, would not always be here, BUT He promised that He would not leave His disciples alone. “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth” (John 14:16-17). Within the heart of every true believer is “living water!” May this truth encourage you today and satisfy your soul as you experience His presence and live by His power!!
