“You Are My Witnesses!”
True “faith,” what the Bible means by “faith,” is unique to those in whom the Spirit of God is at work. While virtually all people have “faith” in something, even if it is in themselves, the “faith” produced by the Spirit of God in those whom God has chosen to be His is distinctly focused on Jesus Christ. To “believe,” in the Bible, means to have “faith in Jesus Christ.” Every true believer has “faith,” and so every true believer is “saved … by grace … through FAITH!” Many people claim to “believe in Jesus,” yet live without true “faith.” They have been deceived, along with those who have rejected the truth of the Gospel entirely, because they do not see the importance of trusting wholly and completely in the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for forgiveness and eternal life. Their supposed “faith” produces no obedience to Christ because there has been no inner change of heart, mind and will. As James writes, “Even the demons ‘believe’ – and shudder!” (James 2:19). True “faith,” the faith produced by the Holy Spirit, is defined in Hebrews 11:1 as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” This “faith,” and only this “faith” accepts the truth of the Gospel and trusts in the finished work of Christ for the absolute assurance of salvation. There is no “doubt” in “true faith” because its foundation is the promises of God that are all “Yes! And Amen!!” in Christ. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
