To God Be Glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus

“Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called!” (Ephesians 4:1). All that Paul writes in Ephesians 4-6 is based on this response to what he wrote in Chapters 1-3. It is because of who we ARE in Christ that we who are united to Christ by faith and are part of His Church are called to live as new creations in the world … as light in the darkness. It is not an easy calling, nor is it an optional calling for those who are born again by the very Spirit of God! It is an urgent call to live out what God has done and is doing within us. As Paul explains the contrast between those who continue in the darkness of spiritual death and those who have been made alive in Christ, he reminds us of the goal of God’s work in us through Christ and His Spirit: that we become like Jesus! Our calling is “to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (4:23-24). How do we do that? By “feeding” the new nature with the continual food of the Word of God. Nothing else “works”!!! No human wisdom, ideas or theories are able to transform the heart of a single person like the power of the Spirit working through God’s Word. God is speaking to us today through His Word, calling us to a new life in Christ. We who believe have been given ears to hear, minds to understand and hearts to obey. May His kingdom come and His will be done in us and through us, for HIS glory!
