Stand Alone Sermon: New Years
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Knowing that the God who created all things also rules over all things, leads to the inescapable conclusion that He knows all things. He knows the end from the beginning, and He knows everything in between. According to God’s Word there was a beginning to this world and according to that same Word there will be an end to this world. Sinful man imagines all sorts of things for the future, yet it is God who holds the future in His hands. It is He who has determined the end from the beginning, and it is He who promises a NEW world to those who know Him as “‘Abba,’ Father,” through faith in Jesus Christ! Revelation 21-22 is just as true as Genesis 1. This world, as we know it today, will not continue forever. Our hope is not in saving this planet or even in the survival of the human race. Our hope is in the promises of the God of creation, who is also the God of redemption, of salvation, of new birth, of new life!!! God’s plan is being fulfilled every day in the lives of His people and it is in trusting in His love in Christ and in His power to save that we find hope for the New Year! May His Spirit awaken within you the passion to serve Jesus with everything in you as we labor for His kingdom and His glory and as we await His return!!
