12 – “Esther: For Such a Time as This!”

‘From Eden … to the Cross!’

Every day of your life has value and purpose. It may not seem like that statement is true, but knowing the sovereign God who reveals Himself in His Word means you understand that HE is always at work in this world and in your life in ways that you cannot possibly imagine. He orders events and opens and closes doors that lead you and guide you to where He wants you to be and to do what He wants you to do. If all of these things happened by chance, or if God left it up to you and me, there could be no certainty that God would keep His promises or that His sovereign plan would be fulfilled. How horrible it would be to read God’s Word and His promises, yet be afraid that God was not wise enough or powerful enough to guarantee that He will be able to keep His promises. In such a scenario, GOD would be subject to the whim and will of sinful creatures like you and me. Such a view of God is not what is revealed in the book of Esther! Esther’s cousin, Mordecai, understood that God had placed Esther in a position to speak to the king of the Persians and the Medes in order to spare the Jews, God’s chosen people. Esther came to realize that she had been placed there for God’s purposes … “for such a time as this!” What was true in the life of Esther is true in some way for every true believer. God so orders the days of your life that you are His instrument to accomplish His purpose at a particular time in the history of mankind. What a magnificent thought! It is the knowledge of this truth that gives your life value and purpose every single day. Draw near to our heavenly Father through faith in His Son Jesus Christ and serve the Lord, our God with strength and hope, knowing that YOU are here “for such a time as this!”
