THIS is Eternal Life!
Perhaps it is because we see the failures of human government and think that WE could do better, that we can get the idea that we could “run the world” better than God is doing!! Of course, we would never say such a thing, but like Habakkuk, our complaining about the way things are happening reveals the foolish thinking that crosses our minds at times. “God, what are You doing???” Habakkuk had questions … and GOD had answers!! It is often said that we all have questions, and because we are not God that will always be the case. Yet there is a difference between having questions and allowing those questions to push you away from the only one who has the answers! In God’s answers to Habakkuk’s questions, God reveals the only way to live in this world as those who know Him: by faith!! Many people claim to “have faith,” but when pressed by the reality of life in this world they “lose their faith” or even exchange one “faith” for another. God tells Habakkuk, “the righteous shall live by his faith” (Habakkuk 2:4), and God explains what that means through the writers of the New Testament. If you are to “live by faith” today and arrive where Habakkuk did, rejoicing in the LORD, you need to know what living by faith means and be sure that yours is the “faith” God is speaking about. Only then can you have “blessed assurance!”
