THIS Is Eternal Life!
The topic of hell produces a variety of reactions from people, often depending upon their spiritual state and spiritual maturity. For some, an incomplete, even naïve view of hell causes them to believe that Hell is only for Satan and his demons, and maybe a few really bad people. Surely, they would never go there because in the end God will save everyone anyway. Others believe that hell does not exist and that when we die we simply cease to exist. There are many people who refuse to believe that a loving God would send anyone to such an awful place because to do so would certainly be UNloving! And even for those within the church, talking about hell makes them feel so uncomfortable that they would rather ignore the topic and talk about “nicer” things. The truth of the matter is that hell is real! It was created by God for the eternal punishment of sinners. And the Bible is clear that everyone who has ever lived deserves eternal punishment because we are born sinful, we have a sinful nature and we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. God does not “send” anyone to hell, but rather executes His justice. Our sin justly condemns us to an eternity in hell … but for grace!! The greatest torment of hell is separation from God, yet God, who is rich in grace and mercy, has made a way to escape the judgment of hell and has chosen some to receive His gift of life in Jesus Christ. Praise be to God for His amazing gift!
