‘THIS I KNOW!’

Knowing your identity as a born again, redeemed, child of God is possible only by the grace of God through the empowering presence of His Spirit within you! As people all around us struggle with their identity, trying to “belong” somewhere, trying to find others who are “like” them, the end result is the human misery that comes from setting your mind on self rather than on Christ. “Self” cannot be pleased or satisfied, no matter how hard a person may try to do so.  If you “find” your identity in the way you look, the things you do or the things you have, or even in the opinions of others, or your sexual identity, your political views or any number of other things, you will be standing on shifting sand … and eventually you will sink into the quicksand of modern-day meaninglessness. God offers so much more to those who by His grace confess our need and our dependence on Him and who trust in Jesus for forgiveness and life as His Spirit works within us! God gives us a new identity as a blood-bought child of the Creator of the universe. As a true child of God you have an identity that cannot be stolen or lost, and a purpose that surpasses any other reason to live: to glorify the God who saved you and called you to Himself, and to worship and serve the One who gave His life and rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and who now rules at the Father’s right hand for YOU, and all your brothers and sisters. Being adopted into God’s family means you are secure in your identity, and you have an inheritance awaiting you that is literally “out of this world!” For those who are truly children of God, by grace through faith in Jesus, your life will never end … it will just get better!!
