Once you acknowledge the reality of the spiritual realm, you realize that there are only two sides: God and the elect angels are on one side, and Satan and the fallen angels (demons) are on the other side. There is no neutral ground. Jesus said, “Whoever is not with me is against me” (Matthew 12:30). You must choose sides! And once you have been empowered by the Spirit of Christ to choose to follow Him, there is no turning back!! You are engaged in the battle and you must use the instruments of war that God has given to you in His Word. The first coming of Christ began a new “stage” in the war between God and Satan. Jesus came to go to the cross, to overcome the power of sin and death for those who would believe in Him. In doing so, He confronted Satan and his demons with the only power that is able to defeat them. Jesus said, “I WILL build my Church!” He didn’t say He was going to “try” to build the Church, but rather, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. God therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:18). Then Jesus ascended into heaven and poured out His Holy Spirit to dwell IN all those whom the Father has given Him. You who confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord today have declared that you are on the side of God and His elect angels, declaring that Jesus is Lord and knowing that His Spirit now lives and works in you and through you to accomplish HIS purpose: the defeat of Satan and his demons and evil, and the establishment of His eternal kingdom! “We are on the LORD’s side!” However, while the outcome of the war has been decided, there are still battles to be fought. As part of Christ’s army we dare not go to sleep or be apathetic about the daily struggle. Instead, we must join hands and engage the enemy, knowing that we may receive wounds from the enemy, and at times it may appear that evil will win … BUT GOD is with us! We WILL overcome, by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony!!
