‘THIS I KNOW!’

Most people would agree that life in this world is not easy. No matter who you are or what the circumstances of your life may be today, trials, suffering and death come to all of us, and when these happen, we are all faced with the temptation to be discouraged, to be afraid, to be overwhelmed and to despair. This is why God speaks so much about perseverance, endurance and hope. No one can live long without hope, but many place their hope in themselves or in some vague desire that things will get better and turn out all right. God offers so much more to those who are His children by grace through faith in Christ! Throughout His Word God lays a foundation for perseverance for all who know Him as “‘Abba,’ Father.” Beginning with the knowledge of salvation, eternal life, God promises that He will complete what He has begun. We who believe will persevere through life and will reach our inheritance, beholding the glory of God and dwelling in His presence forever! In this world we will live by faith, not by sight, trusting Him in the most difficult of circumstances and experiencing the peace that passes understanding. We will find that God is always faithful, and even when we don’t understand, we will persevere through the struggles by faith. And because God is working in us, we who are God’s children will persevere in doing good, shining the light of God’s love and compassion and mercy wherever we go because the Spirit empowers us to “keep on keeping on,” living for the glory of the God who saved us. Perseverance is God’s gift to His children! Praise the Lord!! He really is good, ALL the time!
