“WE EXIST TO PROCLAIM THE REIGN OF JESUS CHRIST OVER ALL THINGS; GLORIFYING AND ENJOYING GOD, NOW AND FOREVER!”

10 – “David and Goliath: Love Is a Two-Way Street”

‘From Eden … to the Cross!’

Talking about LOVE in the context of the story of David and Goliath may sound absurd, but the truth is that the motivation for David’s willingness to fight Goliath was his heartfelt love for the God he knew. There are two opposing “forces” in this world: Good and Evil. We know that God is good and Satan and his “minions” are evil. You cannot be “on the fence” when it comes to loving and serving God! God tells His people to hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Loving God, therefore, means hating evil, wherever you see it, and standing firm against those who oppose both God and His people, His kingdom. David fought Goliath, not to make a name for himself, but to defend the honor of his God!  God’s people today face “giants” all the time in the form of suffering and trials and persecution. Too often we imagine ourselves being “picked on,” or even punished.  “Why ME?” people cry! Few run into the battle, seeing an opportunity to glorify God by trusting in His grace and strength, and using the gifts and abilities HE has given to overcome the enemies of God’s people that come in many forms. Yet, this is our calling!! There is a “moral” to this story … a lesson to be learned that can turn your life from victim to victor. And it has to do with realizing that “love is a two-way street!”
