“Worship” means different things to different people. True worship is the heart’s response to God’s love and grace that leads those who believe in Him to bring an offering before Him. True worship is always a response, and the offering one brings reveals the depth of our love for God. Most people think of money when they think of bringing an offering to the Lord, but while that is part of what God calls us to bring, there is so much more! God desires your heart, your whole being!! Knowing the God we worship must be more than head knowledge and our response to Him must be more than religious acts or rituals. As King of Israel, David is called a man after God’s own heart because HIS heart, his whole being was set on serving God. Even when he sinned against God, his repentance was raw and genuine and he returned to the Lord with even greater passion than he had had before. In his many Psalms, David is used by God to draw believers today into the sanctuary of God, to enter into His presence and to bring him an offering … an offering worthy of the God whom we serve today. In Jesus Christ, God has revealed even more of Himself than David knew and our offerings must reveal the love we have for God in response to His love for us!!
