“You Are My Witnesses!”
In a world where anything Christians say is considered “judgmental,” many are convinced that the most loving thing we can do is just be quiet and let people do what they are doing. Telling people they are sinners and that they deserve God’s judgment may as well be considered “hate speech!” And yet, it is this truth that the Holy Spirit often uses to bring people to their knees before a holy God, preparing the way for the rest of the Gospel. Confession of sin and repentance are necessary steps in the spiritual journey that leads from death to life! Until people see the truth of their spiritual condition, they will fail to see their need for grace, imagining instead that they are “good enough.” But what IS “good enough?” What standard can we possibly create that will allow anyone, let alone most people, into the presence of the holy and righteous God? “None is righteous, no, not one!” (Romans 3:10). “ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God!” (Romans 3:23). The disease that plagues the human race has been spread to all … it is truly a worldwide pandemic! And there is no cure known to man. Sin has a fatality rate of 100% … apart from GRACE. When sharing the good news of the Gospel, the bad news of sin and condemnation must strike to the heart and convict the soul of the need of grace, of forgiveness, of life. Only then will the sinner desperately turn to the only One who can help and embrace HIM as Savior and Lord! The most loving thing you can do as you witness for Jesus is tell people the truth of their condition apart from God’s grace and then lead them to Jesus. This is another reason why the Gospel, and only the Gospel, is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe!
